Welcome to the Horizontal Paul Music Project.. Well what's the music project about...?
It is about my dream to be recognised as a singer/songwriter and musician. It is a hope that I can inspire the able and disabled to be creative, and not to give up on their dreams because they feel their disability limits, or prevents them in some way. Its about creating a better understanding between the able and the disabled. To better understand that we are all equal, and valuable, in our own right. Its about educating, and developing better communication between children, the able, and the disabled. In the early days of the project I had visions of what might be achieved if I worked hard enough. If I was successful, I might raise the $100,000 dollars I need to go to America for a medical assessment, to see if there is any treatment that might improve my independance, to help my wife and family who have to care for me 24 hours a day. If I was really successful I could use the contacts I made, and personal funds to set up a Free Mobile Recording Studio, facility called the Moby Project for the disabled. The intention is to provide a service to those like myself, who, due to their circumstances cannot attend a recording studio themselves. Their creative talent hits a blank wall before they ever start. In my case I knew very quickly that I would get nowhere without building a studio at home which took well over a year, and would never have been achieved without the help and support of those sponsors listed on the left hand side of this page. I should mention that whilst I was very grateful to receive the item donated, I would have been very happy to get some sort of assistance on how I might use it. My situation is unusual and my disability was never discussed expcept with Roland. It was a case of provding an item and leaving me to my own resources. This was all helpful in setting out our initial plans for the Moby Project, and in particular the need for onhand assistance in the Moby Project studio. The idea behind the Moby Project has been so popular that we in the process of setting it up as a charity. Our website sponsors have already agreed to sponsoring a second site www.mobyproject.com, which is well established now and has many supporters. We are pushing ahead with fundraising, by way of offering thousands of Nokia Logo's, Picture Messages, Screen Savers, and Ringtones which includes the New Musical Express Chart Top 20 which is updated weekly. My whole project is about creativity, and learning new things all the time. I thought it was just going to be a matter of writing songs, and playing music, but as the project has progressed, its been all about learning.
There are many aspects of my site you might find interesting and I have gone out of my way to show you the real me. My interests are quite broad. I have sectioned the site so that you get a feel of what I am trying to do to communicate with people. There are some very interesting sections in this website, which includes my running Diary of Events over the last four years. The setting up of my Home Recording Studio, and its layout after fittings were hand built. There is also the fruit of my labour, My Music Samples. I also offer the chance to buy my Really Under Rated album, which was my first labour of love for my music may prove to be a one off album, due to continued illness and the fact that I now reside at Amber Lodge Nursing Home Writing also plays a big part of my life, so I have added a number of Poems for visitors to read... My Amateur Radio sub-section there are loads of downloads available. I have written appx 40 programs myself which are available for free. I also have a section called Doctor Dos which includes dos programs to download. I have been involved with computers many years and try to offer advice and support. This is where my Question and Answer section for the Zip Compression Program has proved to be so popular. It is also very important to me to share knowledge with others, and to inspire other disabled people to have a go. I want to involve everyone in the project in a fresh and exciting way. It dawned on me that I have an ideal opportunity to open a new connection with young people who might be interested. I hope I have whet your appetite enough to want to find out more by entering the site and exploring its pages....
